Five (05) structures are coordinating the execution of the WAQSP and are described below:
[RM1] ; the ECOWAS Department of Industry and Private Sector Promotion is the technical counterpart of the Program.
As part of the program implementation supervision, a steering committee comprising all stakeholders’ and counterparts’ representatives (ECOWAS, WAEMU, EU, and UNIDO) was set up to take necessary decision for the achievement of the Program targeted goals. Its objective is to advise the UNIDO project management unit and monitor the implementation of the program at both regional and national levels.
The overall program is being managed by the UNIDO Program Management Unit, consisting of a single Project unit at UNIDO headquarters and a single Regional Technical Coordination Unit based at the ECOWAS Commission in Abuja (Nigeria).
In each country, a national institution, designated by the Minister in charge of quality as National Focal Point, is responsible for coordinating and monitoring the Program activities at national level; the National Focal Point has set up a national technical coordination unit (NTCU) in charge of the program implementation, in close cooperation with the ECOWAS Commission and UNIDO (executing agency).
Each member country has a National Monitoring Committee, an advisory structure established by the Minister in charge of quality in order to supervise the implementation of the programme at national level. The National Steering Committee are equally composed of representatives of the public and private sectors.
[RM1]This is misleading: the RTCU, the NTCs and the HQ team are the ones responsible for the implementation of the project
This program is funded by the European Union with the technical support of UNIDO, the implementing Agency
